LAFAYETTE — Alta Graves Gates, 54, 111 S. 21st St., died at 1 p. m. Sunday in Home Hospital where she had been a patient since June 11. Mrs. Graves was a third grade teacher at the local Elston School. Born in New Richmond, she was graduated from Central Normal College at Danville. Survivors include the husband, Grover Gates, whom she married in 1945; a son, Bill Seaman of Chesterton; a step-son, Robert Gates of Lafayette; a step-daughter, Mrs. Robert Butz of Lafayette, and one brother, William Graves of Tangier. She was a member of the Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star at New Richmond and a past treasurer of Lambda Chapter of Delta Theta Chi. Friends may call at the Zahn-Schneider Funeral Home here. Funeral services are set for 2:30 p. m. Wednesday at the church in New Richmond, with Rev. H. E. Moore officiating. Interment will be in the New Richmond Cemetery. The casket will not be opened at the church.
